Decking Options

Cedar is a natural decking option that is naturally resistant to decay and insects. We use STK Western Red Cedar (Select Tight Knot Grade or Number 2). It is generally regarded as a high-quality choice for cedar, and any knots present are sound encased and tight. The wood is generally straight-grained and has a uniform, but rather coarse texture.
CONS: Over time, cedar will absorb moisture and weather to a soft silvery gray unless sealed with a preserving stain.

Aluminum resists the growth of mold and mildew and won’t rust, rot, split or stain. This painted then baked beige finish eliminates glare from the aluminum. The non-slip, rigid, surface is low-maintenance and cool to the touch. Color is Sherman Williams Beige.
CONS: Can sound metallic when walking on it, especially on our docks with removable panels.

WearDeck™ is a high density polyethylene resin with UV inhibitors. It is rated for ground and underwater contact and will not support mold or mildew growth. WearDeck’s 5/4″ thick deck board is rated to span joists 24″ on center with the highest live load capacity in the industry. Made in the USA and offers a limited lifetime residential warranty and 25 year commercial warranty. Stocked in 3 colors, with special order colors available.
CONS: Not a natural wood. Barefoot Collection The colors of the Barefoot Collection (A) Barefoot Grey and (B) Barefoot Sand reflect the sun’s rays off the surface of the board and reduce surface temperature by at least 30%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you help me with a layout for the dock system?
YES! You can either call us during business hours at 1(800) 870-6756, or simply fill out our Quote Request (yellow button at the top right of our website) with the specifics of your location and waterfront needs and one of our sales staff will contact you to help design the perfect waterfront.
What is the difference between Standard Duty and Medium Duty Aluminum Docks?
Our Standard Duty Aluminum Docks feature a 4.75″ frame height, and our Medium Duty Aluminum Docks feature a 7″ frame height and increased material thickness. Our Standard Duty docks come in 4′ widths, and up to 10′ length for leg docks, and a 12′ length for wheel docks. The taller frames on of the Medium Duty allow it to come in wider (6′) and longer sections (12′ leg dock and 16′ wheel dock).

Can you deliver the docks to me?
YES! We offer curbside delivery within the Northeast (as well as local pickup and delivery with installation).
You can read more about the different options here.
What if I need the product installed?
Stock installations typically have a 2–4 week lead time depending on weather, order backlog, and if the installation requires the use of our workboat. We have a service installation staff of approximately 20 employees with a variety of skills and background and are equipped to cover the entire Northeast with our products and services.
How far in advance should I plan my project?
Our stock products are typically available for pick up within 1-2 days, or can be delivered within a 1–3 week time frame. Custom projects should be planned well in advance. Time frames are affected by several factors such as product demand, permitting, manufacturing, service, and weather conditions.
Why should I order from The Dock Doctors® instead of my local dock dealer?
Our product prices are very competitive providing shipping from our manufacturing facility in Vermont. Most of our competitors’ products are manufactured and shipped from the Midwest requiring trucking to the Northeast.

Thanks for a super design and recommending the right dock…
“Last June you installed a dock for us. Your recommendation was to go with the lightweight one as we really didn’t need the heavier dock. Today I was thanking you. My husband and I are both over 60 and we were able to install it by ourselves in 50 minutes – 6 eight foot sections. The dock was well used last summer. We had our adult children helping us take it out last fall, so today was the TEST! Thanks for a super design and recommending the right dock.” – T.K., Tupper Lake, NY

“The dock was installed today by your crew of John, Derek and Will. They called beforehand, were prompt, got right to work, fully explained the process as they went along and represented your company very well. They were friendly, courteous, diligent and paid attention to detail. I thought your leadership should know that the things you do to provide good paying jobs and demonstrated care for the well being of the employees is greatly appreciated by them. In the normal course of events I wouldn’t expect to have this type of conversation but all I did was mention that I visited the main office/factory and their pride in the company was evident. I found it refreshing that your crew spoke so highly of the product they install and the company they work for. You have outstanding young men representing you and thought you should know.” – T.S.
